Multiagency Search Suspended for Two Missing Kaua‘i Men

HANALEI – Two multiagency searches have been suspended Saturday afternoon for two missing men in the waters and surrounding areas of Kaua‘i.
Kyle Barrett, 37, of Princeville, was last seen Tuesday, September 23, near the entrance to Queen’s Bath at approximately 7:30 p.m. Barrett is six feet four inches tall, weighs about 210 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white aloha shirt, dark shorts, and sunglasses.
Bryson Higashi, 44, of Līhu‘e, was last seen Tuesday, September 23, at 4:30 p.m. in Hanalei. Higashi is five feet ten inches tall, weighs approximately 200 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Personnel from the Kaua‘i Police Department, Kaua‘i Fire Department, Kaua‘i Search and Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the Ocean Safety Bureau coordinated search operations by air, land, and sea near Queen’s Bath and Hanalei through Saturday afternoon.
“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Kyle Barrett and Bryson Higashi during this difficult time,” said Assistant Chief Darren Rose. “We appreciate the efforts of all our search partners, as well as the ongoing support from the community.”
