Parks and Recreation News Release

LĪHU‘E – The Department of Parks and Recreation (DOPR) is announcing that portions of Hanapēpē Town Park and Lucy Wright Park in Waimea will be closed for construction from January to April 2025.

A portion of Hanapēpē Town Park will be closed from Jan. 2 to the end of April 2025. Construction for a new playground is estimated to begin in the summer 2025.

A portion of Lucy Wright Park in Waimea will be closed from Jan. 8 to the end of April 2025. The closure will allow crews to begin demolition work on the existing restrooms, installing a new restroom, and repairing the pavilion.

The Department of Parks and Recreation thanks the public for their patience and understanding.
