Planning Department News Release

LĪHU‘E – The public is invited to attend the Play Streets Bicycle Playground, a family-focused event, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, at the Hardy Street side of Līhu‘e Civic Center parking lot.

The event will feature a roadway-rendering area for children to practice bicycle skills, a learn-to-ride-a-bicycle station, a bicycle skills course, and an opportunity to try an e-bicycle (ages 16 and up). Bicycles and helmets will be provided, or you may bring your own.

The purpose of this Play Street Event is to give keiki the chance to experience a safe road system on their bicycles, with a miniature roadway featuring intersections, roundabouts, and other roadway features such as signs and street markings. These skills help make them safer on their own streets.

All activities at Play Streets are no cost and open to the public.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, contact the Planning Department at 808-241-4050 as soon as possible. Requests made as early as possible will allow adequate time to fulfill your request. Upon request, this notice is available in alternate formats such as large print, Braille, or electronic copy.
