Public invited to Elderly Affairs proclamation ceremonies Sept. 24

LĪHU‘E – On Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m., the County Agency on Elderly Affairs and Parks and Recreation Department will host a proclamation at the Lihue Civic Center Moikeha Rotunda Līhu‘e Civic Center Mo‘ikeha Rotunda in Līhu‘e.

In recognition of the importance of healthy aging and the contributions of older adults to our communities, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami has officially proclaimed September 2025 as National Healthy Aging Month and National Senior Center Month on Kaua‘i.

This proclamation encourages residents of all ages to reflect on the value of healthy lifestyle choices, preventive care, and community engagement as key components of aging well. It also highlights the importance of supporting programs and services that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for our kūpuna.

“Healthy aging is not just about living longer—it’s about living better,” said Executive Emily Ishida. “This month, we celebrate the vitality, wisdom, and resilience of our kūpuna and reaffirm our commitment to creating an age-friendly community.”

The Agency on Elderly Affairs will have a table with multiple resources and additional information at the event for our kūpuna.
