LĪHU‘E – The Agency on Elderly Affairs (AEA) invites the public to submit nominations for the 2024 Outstanding Older Americans recognition.

“Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month where we pay tribute to older adults 65 years and older who play vital, positive roles in our communities,” said Kealoha Takahashi, Executive for the Agency on Elderly Affairs. “This year’s theme is ‘Powered by Connection,’ which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. We will explore the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combatting isolation, loneliness, and other issues.”

For this year’s Older Americans Month, AEA will focus on celebrating and honoring older adults who contributed significantly to improving community life and to recognize their endeavors and accomplishments by nominating them for 2024 Male and Female Outstanding Older Americans Award.

The public is invited to nominate and recognize an older adult who is 65 years or older; has provided community service; has made outstanding achievements for the betterment of individuals and community; and who has provided leadership to a special cause or community need.

Nomination forms are available at the Agency on Elderly Affairs, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The agency is located at the Līhu’e Civic Center, 4444 Rice Street, Pi’ikoi Building, Suite 330. Nomination forms are also available online at www.kauaiadrc.org.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, February 29, 2024, by close of business.
