LĪHU‘E – The Agency on Elderly Affairs (AEA) invites the public to submit nominations for the 2025 Outstanding Older Americans recognition.

“Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month where we pay tribute to older adults 65 years and older who play vital, positive roles in our communities,” said Emily Ishida, Executive for the Agency on Elderly Affairs. “This year’s theme is ‘Flip the Script on Aging,’ and focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and have meaningful conversations that can help dispel misconceptions. We will explore strategies that help us to reframe and reshape the narrative to honor older adults’ rich experiences and foster age-friendly communities.”

For this year’s Older Americans Month, AEA will focus on celebrating and honoring older adults who contributed significantly to improving community life. To recognize their endeavors and accomplishments, AEA will nominate them for the 2025 Male and Female Outstanding Older Americans Award.

The public is invited to nominate and recognize an older adult who is 65 years or older, has provided community service, made outstanding achievements for the betterment of individuals and the community, and provided leadership to a special cause or community need.
