KEĀLIA – The Kaua‘i Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Friday morning in Keālia, resulting in the death of a man.

Kaua‘i Police has identified the driver as 37-year-old Yannick Doth of Puhi.

According to a preliminary report, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at approximately 1:40 a.m., the man was operating a 2022 Toyota Highlander traveling southbound on Kūhiō Highway in front of Keālia Beach when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed the centerline, and the driver was ejected against the northbound guardrail. The operator sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, though the precise cause remains under investigation.
