REMINDER: Proper disposal of combustible or hazardous material

The Public Works Solid Waste Division reminds the public to dispose of combustible or hazardous materials properly.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), including batteries, gasoline, cleaners, oil-based paints, and other items, can be brought by residents to the County’s semi-annual HHW events, and electronics can be recycled at the Puhi Metals facility in the Puhi Industrial Park, Monday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Household batteries, including Alkaline, Nickle Cadmium, and Lithium Ion that are under 2 pounds may be recycled at the Kaua‘i Resource Center, Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is located at 3460 Ahukini Rd in Līhu‘e.

Improperly disposed of combustible or hazardous materials can cause fires or other damage, resulting in injury to County staff and equipment, and potentially interrupting services or shutting down a facility.
