REMINDER: Real property tax exemption deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 30

LĪHUʻE – The County of Kauaʻi Real Property Division reminds property owners that the deadline to file real property tax exemption applications is Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026. No extension will be granted.

Real Property staff will be at the Hanalei and Kōloa hurricane resource centers through Sept. 30 to accept applications. Staff are available daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

How to submit an application

Home exemption applications may be submitted online at https://trueroll.app/forms/hi/kauai/homestead.

For all other exemption applications, email is encouraged whenever possible. Send applications to rpassessment@kauai.gov. Printable applications are available at www.kauai.gov/Government/Departments-Agencies/Finance/Real-Property-Tax.

Applications may also be dropped off at either of two drop boxes:

  • Moʻikeha Building, ground floor, Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Piʻikoi Building, fronting Rice Street

Temporary office location

Following the Sept. 9 fire at the Kapule Building, the Real Property Division is providing in-person services at a temporary location in Suite 303, the former Purchasing Division office, directly across from its previous office. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Payment options

Real property tax payments may be made the following ways:

  • In person: Visit Suite 303 or use the drop box at the Moʻikeha Building. Only checks are accepted. Make checks payable to the Director of Finance.
  • Online: Visit kauairpt.ehawaii.gov. A service fee applies at checkout.
  • By mail: Send payment to 4444 Rice St., Ste. 463, Līhuʻe, HI 96766.
