As a safety precaution, the Public Works Solid Waste Division reminds the public that products containing lithium batteries should not be disposed of with regular trash.
These items can be recycled at Puhi Metals Recycling Center located at 3951 Puhi Road, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
When damaged, lithium batteries can cause fires. Some products that contain lithium batteries include Bluetooth headsets, cell phones, computer peripherals, digital cameras, laptops, smartwatches, and tablets.
For items such as toys or mobility devices that cannot be recycled at Puhi Metals, batteries should be removed and recycled at the Kaua‘i Resource Center located at 3460 Ahukini Road, Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The lithium battery drop-off at the Kaua‘i Resource Center is for residents only.
