Jan. 30 UPDATE: Repairs to section of bike-pedestrian path in Wailua

Officials announce a new start date to repair and realign a section of the bike-pedestrian path, Ke Ala Hele Makālae, along Kaha Lani Resort in Wailua. The anticipated start date is now on Feb. 20, with completion estimated by March 13, weather permitting.

WAILUA – Construction work is scheduled to begin on Feb. 5 to repair and realign a section of the bike-pedestrian path, Ke Ala Hele Makālae, along Kaha Lani Resort in Wailua.
The scope of work consists of replacing the eroded and damaged section of the multi-use path fronting Kaha Lani Resort and realigning a new segment further mauka – while preserving the area's coastal scenery.
Ka‘iwa Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the $178,000 project, which is expected to be completed, weather permitting, by Feb. 23, 2024.
The path segment will be closed off for the construction period, and the public is advised to avoid this segment until work is completed.
The damaged section of the path was caused by erosion due to the heavy rain event that occurred from March 27 to March 28, 2020.
