LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Police Department celebrated the promotion of eight officers during a ceremony on January 8, 2026, at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.
The ceremony celebrated the advancement of Sergeant Brad Candido to the rank of Lieutenant and seven officers who were promoted to the rank of Sergeant, including Officers Johnathan Anderson, Steven Carvalho, Jarred England, Anthony Gayagas, Eric Higa, Alexander Lacson Jr., and Clayton Silva Jr. These promotions are a testament to the group’s exemplary service and leadership, recognizing them as outstanding members of the department.
The event commenced with an invocation by Kahu Sean Chun, followed by the badge-pinning ceremony, where family members pinned the new badges on the officers.
“This promotion is a reflection of your dedication, perseverance, and growth,” said Chief of Police Kalani Ke. “It is an opportunity to expand the impact you’ve had on this department and in our community. However, none of this would be possible without the steadfast support of your families. We thank them for the many sacrifices they make that allow you to focus on your work and serve with excellence and pride.”
The ceremony showcased each officer’s dedication to public safety and the many contributions made in service to the community.
“Today’s promotions recognize not only past achievements, but a greater responsibility to lead by example,” said Mayor Derek S.K. On behalf of the people of Kaua‘i, mahalo for your service and congratulations on your well-deserved promotions.”
