Road closure notices for Pu’uwai Rd and Po’ohiwi Rd through March 31

KALĀHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) and its contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. (HDCCI) has extended the intermittent road closure notices on Pu’uwai Road and Po’ohiwi Road for the Kalāheo Water Systems Improvements Project through March 31, 2025, weather permitting.  

Excavation and waterline work are being conducted on Po’ohiwi Road, and along portions of Pu’uwai Road.  

Residents, pedestrians and motorists are advised to follow the directions of flaggers and adhere to posted signs in the following areas:

• Road closure on a portion of Pu’uwai Road – A road closure will be in place on Pu’uwai Road, between the intersection of Kikala Road and Po’ohiwi Road, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Through traffic should use Kikala Road as an alternate route. 

• Road work on Pu’uwai Road – Road work will take place on Pu’uwai Road between the junction of Pu’uwai Road and Pu’ulima Road, and the beginning of the Clearwell Reservoir access road. Additionally, please exercise caution while traveling along the Clearwell Reservoir access road, as dump trucks will be operating on this route.

• Road closures along portions of Po’ohiwi Road – There will be road closures lasting fifty minutes along portions of Po’ohiwi Road during the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
