Road closures scheduled for Menehune Road in Waimea May 27 to June 12

WAIMEA – The Department of Public Works and its contractor, Grace Pacific LLC, are announcing road closures along Menehune Road, beginning at the Menehune Place intersection and extending approximately 5,700 feet north, weekdays from Wednesday, May 27, through Friday, June 12, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
The work will involve single-lane contraflow along Menehune Road, from the Menehune Place intersection to the Menehune Ditch Bridge, and a full road closure from the Menehune Ditch Bridge to the end of the usable road. The scope of work includes grass cutting, cold milling two inches of the roadway, repaving the riding surface with two inches of asphalt, and permanent striping.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution through the construction area, observe all posted signage and electronic message boards, and follow the direction of flaggers and Special Duty Officers stationed at the work zone. Area residents will be allowed partial access through the closure.
Please make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the closures and allow extra time to reach destinations. During this time, no parking will be allowed in the work zones. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.
