Road permit application now available online

LĪHU‘E – The Department of Public Works Engineering Division has launched its online application process for road permits via https://connect.kauai.gov/. A link to the online application is available on the County’s website, https://www.kauai.gov/Government/Departments-Agencies/Public-Works/Engineering. A Road Permit is required for any work within the County Right of Way.

To get started, go to Connect.Kauai.gov and create an account by clicking the “Sign Up” link.

Once you have signed up, follow these three steps:

  • Log in to your account at Connect.Kauai.gov;
  • Click in the search box to find the form, for example, type “Road Permit Application” or click the “Public Works \ Engineering” icon; and
  • Select the “Road Permit Application” icon:
    1. Follow the system prompts and tab through the application process.
    2. Upload all necessary documents with the application, including:
      • Approved construction plans and traffic control plans, if applicable;
      • A construction schedule;
      • Certificate of Insurance naming the County of Kauai as additional insured; and
      • Three (3) emergency contacts

Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by Public Works Engineering Division staff.  Customers will receive an automated email as to the status of your application.  While the form is being reviewed, customers can view the application’s progress anytime by logging back into Connect.Kauai.gov.

Paper applications are no longer accepted.
