Published on May 07, 2025
KĪPŪ – The Department of Public Works and its contractor Kaikor Construction Group, Inc. announce that road work on Kīpū Bridge on Kīpū Road is scheduled May 12 to Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Construction will take place on weekdays only, not including holidays.
The travel way for the one-lane bridge will be maintained. However, due to construction, the bridge will have a reduced lane width.
This $1.9 million project includes repairing spalled concrete on the bridge's abutments, piers, and deck, applying a new asphalt overlay, and installing guardrails at both ends of the bridge, along with other necessary repairs. The bridge’s historical appearance will be preserved. The project budget is shared with the repair work for the Kōloa Bridge.
Please make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary lane closures, use alternate routes, and allow extra time to get to destinations. As a reminder, Kīpū Bridge has a weight limit of 5 tons. Trucks that exceed this limit shall not cross the bridge to reduce further damage to the bridge.
