LIHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Bus proudly joins transit agencies across the country in celebrating National Rural Transit Day on July 16, recognizing the vital role public transportation plays in connecting rural communities and supporting residents across the island.

The Kaua‘i Bus invites riders to take a brief survey regarding your experiences with The Kaua‘i Bus. To take the survey, visit The Kaua‘i Bus 2025 Rural Transit Day Survey.

National Rural Transit Day underscores the importance of accessible, reliable transit in rural areas like Kaua‘i, where many residents depend on public transportation to reach jobs, schools, healthcare, and other essential services. The Kaua‘i Bus has long been a lifeline for the island, offering service from Kekaha to Hanalei and everywhere in between.

“Our mission is to provide safe, affordable, and convenient transportation for everyone on Kaua‘i,” said Celia Mahikoa, Executive on Transportation. “On National Rural Transit Day, we celebrate not only our riders, but also the dedicated drivers, mechanics, and staff who work hard to keep our community moving every day.”

As part of this year’s celebration, The Kaua‘i Bus is sharing community stories on its website and social media, highlighting the positive impact rural transit has on the lives of Kaua‘i residents. Riders are encouraged to join the conversation by sharing their own experiences.
