LĪHUʻE – The Department of Parks and Recreation reminds the community that Vidinha Stadium remains closed to the general public while construction continues as part of the ongoing improvement project. The reopening of Vidinha Stadium is currently anticipated for Fall 2026.
While construction at the stadium remains ongoing, the Kauaʻi Interscholastic Federation (KIF) requested limited use of the track for the current track season. The County approved limited access for KIF to use the track strictly for scheduled meets. The stadium remains an active construction site and is not open to the public.
For safety reasons, spectators are not permitted at Saturday track meets. The stadium will remain closed to the general public during these events, and the bleachers are currently undergoing renovation and are not accessible until further notice. Access to the stadium during scheduled meets will be limited to athletes and authorized personnel only, and the public may not gather outside the fence to view the events.
Contracted by Co-Ha Builders Inc. dba Applied Surfacing Technology, in collaboration with the Fukunaga & Associates Inc. engineering company, Phase 1 of the improvements project includes the demolition and removal of the existing field, track, track implements, and scoreboard. The project also includes the installation of a synthetic turf field, synthetic track, new track implements, and a video board.
Updates regarding the project and future access to the stadium will be announced in future news releases.
