HANALEI – A woman from California died after being pulled from waters at Hanalei Beach Park yesterday.
On Thursday, Apr. 24, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., first responders were dispatched to Hanelei Beach Park for reports of an unresponsive swimmer. Bystanders noticed an unresponsive woman floating near the water's edge and swiftly brought her to shore. Personnel with the Kaua‘i Fire Department and American Medical Response initiated advanced life-saving measures upon arrival. The swimmer was transported to Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The swimmer has been identified as 72-year-old Ricki Fehr, a resident of California.
An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
