LĪHU‘E – A male visitor died Thursday afternoon after being pulled from waters off Kalapakī Bay.
On Thursday, November 20, at approximately 12:30 p.m., first responders were dispatched to Kalapakī Bay following reports of an unresponsive man in the water. Personnel with the Kaua‘i Fire Department and U.S. Coastguard assisted in bringing the individual to shore and performing CPR. Medics then transported him to Wilcox Medical Center, where despite continued life-saving efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Liming Xu, a 67-year-old man from Rhode Island.
An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
