Woman rescued from Uluwehi Falls Wednesday

 WAILUA – Firefighters responded to a call of a female hiker in distress Wednesday afternoon near Uluwehi Falls in Wailua.

Shortly before 2:10 p.m. Wednesday, first responders were notified of a 34-year-old female visitor from North Carolina who reportedly injured her back near Uluwehi Falls.

Personnel from the Kapa‘a fire station were dispatched to the scene and located the injured visitor at the falls. First responders safely loaded her into a stokes litter, proceeded to the trailhead, and made contact with Rescue 3 personnel who later assisted the patient to awaiting personnel from American Medical Response.

AMR personnel continued treatment of the visitor before transporting her to Wilcox Medical Center in stable condition.

The scene was cleared shortly before 5 p.m.
