Ocean Safety Bureau
Description
The Oceans Safety Operation Bureau promotes prevention and safety awareness to all persons who frequent our beaches and provides in-service training for staff and public entities. The Ocean Safety Operation's primary concerns is to educate tourists and local residents of dangers that could occur while visiting beach locations.
Objectives
- To decrease drowning and water related injuries through an aggressive and innovative Oceans Safety.
- To promote Kauaʻi's guarded beaches as safe visitor destinations and safe recreational areas for residents.
- To work in collaboration with hotels, non-profit entities and schools to promote "prevention" awareness in beach and ocean safety through the Keiki & Junior Lifeguard and Ocean Safety Awareness programs.
- To provide first aid and rescue services for the general public.
