Mission

The mission of the Office of the Mayor is to carry out the vision for Kaua'i by directing the management of all executive departments, offices and agencies. The Office of the Mayor also serves as a liaison between the County Council and administration and facilitates the County's State and Federal legislative agendas. We support all boards and commissions, respond to citizen concerns, and coordinate internal communications among departments and external communications with the general public and partnering government agencies. In addition, the Office of the Mayor manages the county's capital improvement program, Life’s Choices office, and monitors compliance with two federal laws, the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Americans with Disability Act (ADA).

New Cultural Initiative: Kaua‘i Nui Kuapapa

The County is proud to be a partner in a new cultural initiative: Kauaʻi Nui Kuapapa. This innovative program will bring renewed life to Kauaʻi's ancient land divisions of moku and ahupuaa, via signage, a website, and interactive displays around the island.

See our island's history come to life through an awareness of the unique attributes and traditions associated with the six moku of Kauaʻi. Learn more at www.kauainuikuapapa.com.

Community Health Needs Assessment

Community building is the process of involving local residents to create their desired environmental conditions in improving population health. On Kauai, this entails hundreds of residents - including older adults, the youth, various ethnic groups – as well as the business community, and other stakeholders, to engage in identifying priority issues, assets and strengths, and strategies in achieving a healthy community. The County of Kauai is proud to partner with the State Department of Health and numerous other organizations to create the island's first Community Health Needs Assessment. Kauaʻi's CHNA aligns closely with the Mayor's Holo Holo 2020 vision.
