Lydgate Beach Park and Kamalani Playground to reopen April 25

LĪHU‘E – The Department of Parks and Recreation (DOPR) is announcing that Lydgate Beach Park and the Kamalani Playground area will be open to the public starting April 25.  However, the Morgan’s Ponds area will remain closed until further notice.

“Lydgate Beach Park has been closed due to safety concerns since April 12 following the April 2024 flood event,” said Department of Parks and Recreation Director Pat Porter. “Department of Health officials have deemed the area safe after it was cleaned and maintained by County crews.”

The Department of Parks and Recreation also extends gratitude and aloha to the Friends of Kamalani for their continued efforts at Lydgate Beach Park. The Friends of Kamalani will be conducting beach cleanup activities in the Morgan’s Ponds area starting tomorrow, April 25, and through the weekend.
