DOW partners with KEO’s meal delivery programs

LĪHUʻE – In advance of the 2025 hurricane season, the Department of Water (DOW) has partnered with Kauai Economic Opportunity Inc. (KEO) to encourage water emergency preparedness through programs for Meals on Wheels, Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing. During May, participants of these programs each received a complimentary 20-liter water storage container with their meal delivery.

Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami presented a proclamation for Wildfire Awareness Month today to personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department, Barking Sands Fire and Emergency Services Department Chief Oric Kuapahi, Līhu‘e Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting personnel, and a representative from the Hawai‘i Wildfire Management Organization.

Kaua‘i Fire Department responds to brushfires Wednesday

May 28, UPDATE: Water conservation request continues for Hanalei

5/28/25 HANALEI AND ʻANINI – The water conservation request for Department of Water (DOW) customers in the Hanalei community and ʻAnini Beach areas remains in place until further notice. Customers are asked to continue water conservation efforts in order to maintain water services and avoid a full water service outage.

Temporary Relocation of Kolo Road Bus Stop Effective May 5

Effective Monday, May 5, The Kauaʻi Bus will temporarily relocate the Kolo Road bus stop to the intersection of Kolo Road and Kilauea Road. This change is necessary due to ongoing roadwork and will remain in effect until further notice.
