Road closures for Waimea Light Parade set for Dec. 16

WAIMEA – The annual Waimea Light Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16, at 6:15 p.m.

The parade will begin at Waimea Canyon Middle School parking, continue to Huakai Road, down Waimea Canyon Drive to Kaumuali‘i Highway, and end at the Alawai Road intersection.

To accommodate the parade, the Kaua‘i Police Department will close off all streets along the parade route. Road closures will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will remain closed until about 9:30 p.m. or until the parade is over.

No parking will be allowed along the parade route.

Due to the road closures, the Kaua‘i Bus Route 200 departing Līhu‘e at 4:25 p.m., 5:25 p.m., 6:25 p.m, and 7:25 p.m. will end in Waimea at the Pāʻulaʻula State Historic Site (formerly known as Russian Fort). Route 100 at 6:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 9:15 p.m. will start in Waimea at the Pāʻulaʻula State Historic Site due to the road closure. The last Route 100 bus will leave Kekaha at 5:15 p.m.For more information about bus services, please call 808-246-8110.

The Kaua‘i Police Department will be stationed at the road closures and reopen streets as the parade clears.

Motorists should allow additional time to get to their destinations as traffic delays are expected.
