Temporary Closure (Starting 10/14/16)
Effective Wednesday, December 14, the Kaua‘i Resource Center (KRC) will be temporarily closed as the County transitions to a new vendor and the permitting, contracting, and mobilization processes for the new contract are completed.
A public announcement will be made regarding the reopening of the Kaua‘i Resource Center, which is expected to take place at the beginning of the New Year.
• An alternate HI5 Certified Redemption is available in Līhu‘e:
Reynold’s HI5 Redemption Center
Corner of Wilcox & Kanoa Road, Nāwiliwili Harbor
Tuesday through Saturday
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lunch break, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
• Please visit the County’s website for other HI5 redemption centers, www.kauai.gov/hi5.
• Residentially generated recyclables should be taken to the Kaua‘i Recycles bins in the back parking lot of K-Mart.
• Recyclables generated by businesses will no longer be accepted at Garden Isle Disposal’s (GID) facility in Nāwiliwili, as that service was part of the County’s contract with GID which is ending on December 13. You may call Garden Island Disposal at 245-2372 to discuss recycling hauling services or a potential agreement to accept recyclables.
Battery recycling and free composting bins will still be available during this temporary closure. Anyone with questions can contact Allison Fraley with the Solid Waste Division at 241-4837.
