Housing Agency announces Homeless Program Grant recipients

LĪHU‘E – The Housing Agency announces the recipients of its Homeless Program Grants.

Of the nine proposals received, seven were eligible for consideration. A selection committee reviewed and scored all the eligible projects and selected the top six proposals to fund for a total of $500,000. The Housing Agency is pleased to share the list of projects that received funding this year.

  • Family Life Center: Ho’olanani Kauai Shelter – The grant will provide critical operating funds for FLC’s new shelter that provides a landing spot for larger families that have difficulty finding housing in the current market.
  • Family Life Center: Homeless Street Outreach – This grant will allow another outreach worker to be hired, trained and begin expanding on FLC’s current street outreach efforts.
  • Family Life Center: Rapid Rehousing for Adult Only Households – This project provides critical short term rental assistance to the largest number of homeless individuals.
  • Project Vision Hawaii: Health Outreach Kauai – The proposed project will continue PVH’s current mobile hygiene and street medicine services while expanding to encampments and increasing their capacity to serve at various established outreach locations.
  • Malama Pono Health Services: Substance Use and Mobile Medical Street Outreach – A collaborative effort with Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center expanding the outreach capabilities and including behavioral health, mental health and substance use services along with their medical services in an outreach capacity.
  • U.S. Vets: Kauai Hoptel – This grant will provide critical operating funding for their Veterans shelter on Kauai.
