‘Ele‘ele - County of Kaua‘i in partnership with Kaua‘i Housing Development Corporation, KHDC, announced today the first completed sales of single-family homes at Lima Ola, an affordable housing project.

Four families will be moving into 3-bedroom homes in late February. Lima Ola is a County of Kauai master planned community with approximately 550 new affordable housing units, comprised of both single-family homes and multi-family rental units.

The first phase of the 38 homes is to be developed in the next 18 months.  As the year progresses, more 2- and 3-bedroom homes will become available to expand access to affordable housing on Kaua‘i.

“Housing is among our top priorities for our administration and community, especially for our residents on west Kaua‘i,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “Mahalo to the combined efforts of the Housing Agency, KHDC, and all our partners for making the dream of having a home in ‘Ele‘ele a reality for our local families.”

The Lima Ola Workforce Housing Development is the County of Kauai’s largest affordable housing project. Eligibility for home ownership is dependent upon a buyer to have completed the County’s Homebuyer Program requirements.

“Mahalo to Shioi Construction, the Kaua‘i Housing Agency, architect Marc Ventura, Kauai Realty, Esaki Surveying, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, and Esaki Surveying for working with us to provide support to the first phase and onward,” said KHDC Executive Director Andy Friend. “This milestone brings relief and joy for families who have been waiting a long time on time for a home, he continued.
