Water Service Shutdown Scheduled in Kalāheo on August 28

KALĀHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) announces a water service shutdown on Poʻohiwi Road, Mahiʻai Street, Keoki Place, Ohana ‘Āina Place, an upper portion of Puʻuwai Road (including branching roads), and an upper portion of Lae Road on August 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Water service will be turned off to perform a replacement of a pressure releasing valve.  Customers can also expect an intermittent series of high and low pressure in some areas, during the shutdown.      

Customers located in the affected area are advised to prepare for the water service shutdown by taking the following steps: 

  • Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
  • Notify family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
  • Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that their water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
