HANALEI – The Kaua‘i Bus will run a special Hanalei Shuttle on Wednesday, June 5, to accommodate the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation’s (HDOT) temporary closures of Kūhiō Highway at Hanalei Hill.
HDOT announced there will be intermittent full closures of Kūhiō Highway, between Hanalei Plantation Road and ‘Ōhiki Road, on June 5, at 30-minute intervals starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. During the intermittent openings, The Kaua‘i Bus will be operating a free special shuttle bus service to assist passengers between Princeville and Hanalei. The shuttle will service the two bus stops in Hanalei and the one bus stop near the Princeville Library, and will run continuously throughout the day.
Route 400 (Hanalei to Līhu‘e) and Route 500 (Līhu‘e to Hanalei) will start/end from the Princeville bus stop on June 5, due to the highway closure. Passengers on these mainline routes will continue to pay normal bus fares.
