PRINCEVILLE – Two people were injured yesterday following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kūhiō Highway and Kapaka Street.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 2024 Toyota SUV was traveling southbound on Kūhiō Highway approaching the Kapaka Street intersection when a northbound 2014 Chevrolet SUV attempted a U-turn. After striking the passenger side of the Chevrolet, the Toyota veered off the southbound shoulder.
Both drivers were taken to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment. The Toyota’s driver, a 24-year-old woman from Kapa‘a, was treated and released. The Chevrolet’s driver, a 79-year-old man from Princeville, was admitted for observation.
Kūhiō Highway was closed in both directions for approximately 45 minutes while the Kaua‘i Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that speed does not appear to be a contributing factor. Toxicology results are pending to determine whether impairment played a role. The investigation remains ongoing.
