The Kauai Resource Center offers several waste diversion programs. Battery recycling (Alkaline, NiCad and Lithium), fluorescent light bulb recycling, Free compost bin distribution and reuse drop off are services provided. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed on weekends and all County holidays.

Reynold’s Recycling relocated to the Kauai Resource Center at 3460 Ahukini Road Lihue, HI 96766 (near the airport)
Reynold's Recycling is open for redemption of plastic, glass, and aluminum beverage containers marked with the HI5 symbol. The facility also has a buy-back program for non-ferrous scrap metal (aluminum, brass, copper and stainless steel).
This Reynold's Recycling location is open to the public every day except Sundays and County holidays.
Hours of Operation: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lunch break, 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Businesses should bring recyclables directly to Garden Isle Disposal (GID) located at 2666 Niumalu Rd. in Lihue. GID is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed for lunch from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Call 245-2372 for more information.
Due to COVID-19, Garden Isle Disposal has temporarily modified their hours of service for accepting commercial recyclables at their recycling warehouse in Nawiliwili. Their new hours of service are: Monday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a closure for lunch from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
ITEMS ACCEPTED from businesses at Garden Isle Disposal: cardboard, mixed paper including newspaper, non-HI5 glass, plastic bottles and jars #1 & #2, and metal cans.
