March 20, Wastewater Spill Notice: Līhuʻe Wastewater Treatment Plant

LĪHUʻE – The Wastewater Management Division (WMD), in compliance with the Hawaiʻi Department of Health Clean Water Branch, advises the public of an ongoing wastewater spill of about 70,000 gallons per day at the Līhuʻe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The discharge remains confined within the facility and has not reached any public areas or state waters, and does not pose a risk to public health

KALĀHEO – The Department of Public Works and its contractor, Maui Kupono Builders, are announcing lane closures for a portion of Papalina Road in Kalāheo, from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Waha Road, weekdays, from March 23 to April 3, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting.

County of Kauaʻi Life’s Choices Awards $1 Million

LĪHUʻE, KAUAʻI – Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Like today announced the recipients of $1,000,000 in grant funding. 13 non-profit community organizations will be receiving grants through the Life’s Choices Adult and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse Grant Program.

LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) announces that road construction will take place at the end of Pua Loke Street in Līhuʻe on July 25-26, from 7 a.m to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. This construction is necessary for the installation of an access gate near the entrance to the DOW parking lot.

Water service shutdown scheduled in Kalāheo July 23 and 24

KALĀHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) announces a water service shutdown in Kalāheo on Wednesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Water service will be turned off for customers to allow the contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company Inc. (HDCCI), to connect a new water line as part of the Kalāheo Water Systems Improvements Project.
