DOW to adjust office hours on Friday, May 9

LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) announces that our office will not open until 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025. This is one and a half hours later than our standard weekday opening time of 8:00 a.m. The change is necessary due to a mandatory Department-wide staff training event.

HANALEI— The Solid Waste Division announces that work has been extended for the Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station. The Hanalei RTS will accept bagged trash only (no loose mixed waste) through May 16, weather permitting.

Immediate water conservation request issued for Hanalei and ‘Anini are

(6:30 p.m.) HANALEI AND KILAUEA – The Department of Water (DOW) has issued an immediate water conservation notice to customers in Hanalei and ‘Anini areas until further notice, due to a mechanical failure on the water system’s pump station. Customers are advised to limit water use to essential needs only to avoid a water service outage.

DOW announces 50-gallon rain barrel grand prize drawing and food drive

LĪHUE – In honor of Earth Day 2025, the Department of Water (DOW) announces a rain barrel grand prize drawing in April. A rain barrel is a container that captures and stores rainwater from the roof. The collected rainwater is a valuable source for gardening. A total of three, 50-gallon rain barrels will be given away, to encourage water conservation outdoors and help customers save money.
