Lane closures scheduled for multiple roads in Kōloa Aug. 6 to 22

The Department of Public Works and its contractor, Maui Kupono Builders, are announcing road closures and single-lane contraflow traffic patterns for portions of Aka Road, Kiani Street, Kalua Moa Road, Huaka Place, and Uwila Place in Kōloa from August 6 to 22, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Mayor Kawakami completes successful sister city visit to Japan

Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami and a delegation from Kaua‘i returned this week from a successful diplomatic and cultural exchange visit to Japan, held from July 20 to July 28, 2025. The visit reaffirmed Sister City relationships that span generations and opened new doors for educational, cultural, and economic collaboration between Kaua‘i and its Japanese counterparts.

Limited access to DOW on August 1-2

LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) announces that road construction will take place at the end of Pua Loke Street in Līhuʻe on July 25-26, from 7 a.m to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. This construction is necessary for the installation of an access gate near the entrance to the DOW parking lot.

Water service shutdown scheduled in Kalāheo July 23 and 24

KALĀHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) announces a water service shutdown in Kalāheo on Wednesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Water service will be turned off for customers to allow the contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company Inc. (HDCCI), to connect a new water line as part of the Kalāheo Water Systems Improvements Project.

Blessing held for Kapa‘a Homesteads Tanks Project
