Chief Rudy Tai was sworn in on March 9, 2026, as the Kaua‘i Police Department’s 9th Chief of Police. A law enforcement leader with 35+ years of experience, he previously served as Deputy Chief of the San Diego Police Department and currently serves as President of the National Association of Asian American Law Enforcement Commanders.
